Mary Spender
Mary Spender is a multi-talented artist, who is quite difficult to paint neatly into a box, but she is most generally described as a singer, songwriter, and guitarist, even though that does not do her justice. She started her musical training at an early age, learning classical piano and then going to the University of Bristol in England to study viola and classical singing. Her fingerstyle guitar playing has been described as "crisp" with a "harmonically rich, percussive style", and her songwriting is certainly “confessional” in nature. However, by far her greatest talent is her voice, with incredible range, control, and tone, especially in her lower register. Her original music also defies easy categorization, ranging from folk to blues to rock to American country. She is also an exceptional videographer, video essayist, interviewer, technology reviewer, and serial entrepreneur. She is currently based out of Barcelona, but travels around the world sharing her love of music and creativity.
