No Apology
No Apology is a Ukrainian rock band formed in 2014 as Sershen & Zaritskaya by guitarist Sergey Sershen and singer Daria Zaritskaya. After producing a number of cover videos and undergoing several lineup changes, the band really started taking off after the 2017 addition of arguably the best rhythm section on YouTube, bassist Alex Shturmak and drummer Dmitry Kim. With solid musicianship from all four band members, their international fan base grew substantially through their powerful and creative covers that have racked up over 200 million views. They recently started venturing into some original music, so in late 2022 they changed the name of the group to No Apology, continuing to produce incredible music even as they survive in their war-torn hometown of Kyiv.
The clear star of the band is Daria, who has all of the ingredients for an iconic rock lead singer: supermodel beauty, magnetic stage presence, and a powerful voice. She has huge range, even from her low register, and can handle soft ballads as easily as raucous driving anthems. Sergey is a solid creative guitarist, who makes everything seem incredibly effortless. The two of them together were already a high-class act, but adding Alex and Dmitry sealed their legacy. As I already mentioned, this is arguably the best rock rhythm section on YouTube, with each being technically solid, neither overplaying their instrument, and both operating as a single tight-knit unit.
